No matter who you are or what you love, Kuala Lumpur certainly has something to offer you! A vibrant and bustling city just waiting to be explored. If you want a bit of culture, food, parties, shopping or adventure, it has got you covered! I’ve just come back from Malaysia and it’s so beautiful that I can go back again in a heartbeat!I’ve put together some amazing things to do here. Kuala Lumpur was actually a layover addition to our trip to Indonesia and I had 72 hours to explore the place which is just good amount of time to see this city’s iconic attractions without feeling like you are cramming yourself.
Petronas Twin Towers
It’s a must when in KL, it’s like what Eiffel Tower is to Paris or Big Ben is to London and are a sight to behold! No trip to KL is going to be complete without seeing these two beauties! If you want to see the view from the top then you must buy the ticket to the observation deck on the 86th floor and walk from one tower to the other on the popular sky bridge. Looking at petronas towers during nighttime felt surreal. You can also take a look at park across the road and the shopping centre next to it.
KLCC Menaras Tower
I can’t tell you how much fun it was! This is actually a TV tower of KL and offers fantastically amazing 360 degree view of the city.
It was very near to our hotel so we went walking and then took the shuttle bus to the tower. I prefer to walk during vacation and guys let me tell you it’s a great way not to put on weight during holidays haha!
There’s an observation deck and an open deck, The former costs RM 55 and the latter RM 105 and I’d suggest you to buy tickets at the tower itself that too for open deck which gives you the access to both, though you may not like to waste time on the observation deck post the view at open deck. Also at the open deck you get the access to glass floor and the breathtaking feeling of floating in the sky. Moreover the place includes an amazing revolving restaurant ‘Atmosphere 360’ where you can have a meal or enjoy some coffee with a view to die for!
Shopping-
• China Town- Petaling Street and Little India/Masjid India
Full of hustle and bustle! Plenty of stalls and with almost everything one can imagine.
And yes your haggling skills are going to be checked here, the vendors will quote four times the actual amount and the trick is to bargain like a pro, well even if you aren’t what’s the harm in trying? From T-shirts to designer bags, watches to football jerseys, souvenirs to delicious food, this place has got everything.
• Suria KLCC
Here you’ll find all high end brands and well known designer stores. It’s underneath Petronas Twin Towers and it’s huge! From Salvatore Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton to Gucci and Marc Jacobs you name it and it’s right there. And even if you don’t want to shop and dig a hole in your pocket, a stroll will freshen you up for sure.
Jalon Alor Street and Food market
It is the centre of street food in Kuala Lumpur. You’ll find endless rows of hawker stalls on both the sides of the road, local musicians playing live bands and people taking strolls, it’s so much fun just grab a beer and watch the people go by!
It is sort of a food paradise and one can taste Chinese,Thai and traditional Malaysian food delights. Buskers keep moving up and down the street singing from old English numbers to latest hits keeping the crowd entertained.
It’s quite dull during the day time and picks up in the evening transforming it completely. So come here for the street dining experience and enjoy the atmosphere.
Nightlife-
• Bar hopping in Changkat Buket Bintang
This street I just happened to find while I was going to the Petronas and I was like damn I have to come back to this place. This vibrant street is mostly jam packed with bars, clubs, pubs, restaurants and has some of the best drinking spots in Kuala Lumpur.
You must come here to have a crazy boozy night! It’s one of the city’s most happening boulevards.
It has got everything from free drinks for the ladies to great music and delicious food! You just need to go with open heart and willing liver to enjoy the most of it!
• Cheers with a view- Heli Lounge
As I’ve already told you that there’s no dearth of nightlife in KL but have you ever fancied a drink on a rooftop helipad? As the name suggests it’s a helipad by the day and turns into a rooftop bar at night, now isn’t that awesome?
It’s located on 34th floor of the Menara KH building and has two sections- lounge downstairs and the helipad two flight of stairs above the lounge. The entry to the lounge is free but you need to buy a drink to go to the helipad.
And when I took the last step I was blown away by the spectacular uninhabited 360 degrees view of the KL skyline.
The view is beyond words! I’d suggest you to go in the evening to enjoy the quality sunset with a drink in your hand! Grab a good seat watch how magically the city lights up after dusk and what a sight it is!
Just sit back, relax and enjoy the panoramic view of the city!
Alright guys it’s a wrap! I hope you enjoyed the Kuala Lumpur travel guide. Are you flying to KL anytime soon? Do let me know about your trip once you are back. If you’ve already been, then too I’d like to know your highlights.
